The director of the UNESCO Chair in Languages and Cultural Diversity currently sits on the International Advisory Board of the Center for Multiple Languages and Literacies, Columbia University, New York, USA, and provides advice to the Kanak Languages Academy (Acadèmie des Langues Kanak), Noumea, New Caledonia.

He has also acted as advisor for the following institutions and projects:

— Advisor to the Spanish Ministry of Culture in relation to the project to create an ‘International Center for Culture and American Indigenous Languages’.

— The UNESCO Chair has worked as an external consultant for the different versions of the Republic of Paraguay Languages Bill project.

— The director of the Chair has taken part in the International Committee for the assessment of the PhD programme project on Amerindian Linguistics (January 29-30, 2004).
